A School Assignment

So. This essay is a lot like my "Educational Pandemic" post. Yes. Its different. But it covers the same concept. I actually wrote it in 15 minutes about 20 minutes before class. So the end is very scrambled and I didn't flesh it out as much as I wanted to. Its not a perfect essay, and by no means does it follow any specific format. These are just more of my thoughts stained into the Internets Ink. 

Here it is:

The future of China, India, and America. 

Why America could be stomped by China and India in the near future. 

In the 1950’s, America had reached its golden age. Other countries were insignificant and small compared to our giant, free country. But now, in 2012, it is predicted that soon, the United States World Ranking will have descended below countries like China and India. Even when both countries were and still are seen as third worlds. How is this possible?

Education.

It is said by many that Hitler planned to continue his domination of Germany for years after his death by educating the children. He knew that children are impressionable and whatever you teach them will shape who they become and what they do as adults. To change a country, you go to the schools.

Fast-forward to 2010 and The President of the United States, Barak Obama says that our country's education system need to be MORE like our “counterpart” countries such as China, and India.

Education is the key to any country's success. The problem we face today is that education is merely job training.

We find ourself in a situation that is rather similar to one we found ourselves in a hundred years ago. We were advancing into a new age. One of industrialism. With that change cam educational reform. It was modeled after Industrial Germany's Education System. 

America and Germany were two of the best countries in the world until Germany fell in the 1930's.  China India and America will be the best in the near future until, perhaps, America falls.

To predict how that could happen, we must look at why Germany fell.

Contrary to popular belief, the Great Depression was not only occurring in the U.S. It was felt all over the world. Especially in Germany. Since the late 1800’s, Germany had been an Industrial Society. Schools began to train workers to meet the demands of the changing society. They were very good at this. (Thus the reason the U.S. modeled its education systems after theirs.)

Then the Economy crashed. Workers didn’t have any work. The country began to crumble. Soon, Adolf Hitler came to power. Hitler was going to save his beloved country. He became the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party. Better known as the Nazi Party.

Hitler and his Socialist Workers Party took advantage of the uneducated, trained Germans and just like that, the dominos started falling. As we know, it ended in the death of millions and ruination of a great country.

Almost on hundred years later, America and her people are falling. We are no longer educated, but instead, trained. Although I do not believe that the United States will succumb to a darkness such as the Nazi Party, we will face hard times and it will take reeducation of the people to rise again. 

China and India have some of the most educated youth in the world. They see education as a purpose in life. They desire great Liberal Arts education. Many education opportunities they seek are here in the U.S.  After that, they also find great jobs here, that are not filled by our own students because we dont have a level of education high enough to fill those jobs.

We are a teetering country. Riddled with debt and insecurity. We face economic hardship. Americans are not passionate about education. Indians and Chinese are. They are rising up and becoming world powers because of their educational systems.

I believe in America. I believe that we can rise up and fix the problems we face. But it will take something besides Job Training. It will take real education.
